March 13, 200917 yr We have a small problem with moisture at times in our kitchen cabinets, due to the wall behind having a very small water leak some time ago. The leak has since been repaired, but the cabinet doors seal so tightly that even the slightest amount of dampness coming from behind is trapped inside. Ripping out the cabinets and treating the wall with some sort of barrier or coating isn't an option now. The door style and general design of the cabinets doesn't allow for ventilation, so one approach would be to install some "shims" on the doors so that there's a small air gap when they're closed, allowing any moist air to escape. Before doing that, I'd like to try putting some desiccant in the cabinets, though. I'm looking for something that could be placed in each cabinet to draw moisture out of the air when we're away for an extended period of time. Anyone know where I can buy something like this?
March 13, 200917 yr home pro and central (basment) have some Japanese branded Desiccant. It's a plastic box that is about a hand tall and 2 hands wide. Foil rip off top, absorption beads and a reservoir below to suck in the moister. don't remember the price (200-400?) and they do the job well
