Here's the latest plans from the British government to intrude on your personal life.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/498...Government.html

So as we clap our hands in glee that the arcane and obscure regulations on liquids in carry-on luggage may be scrapped, they are still ultimately worried about your safety.

Here's looking at you!

:o

Nothing you can do about it...government knows best after all, don't they?

I don't like it, but you can't fight the b----ards.

Not exactly the same thing, but I was once on a Thai International flight that was holding a raffle on board for two free tickets on a Thai flight in Asia as a promotion of Thai airlines.

The stewardess passed out forms for us to enter our names, which was to go into a raffle draw. Prise was two free tickets anywhere within Asia.

I refused to fill out my entry, because as part of the entry I was required to enter 3 names of friends and acquaintances who would be "willing to recieve Thai promotional matierial" , i.e. advertising junk mail, on the back of the entry.

I didn't want junk mail being sent to my friends, and the entry for the "free tickets" contest made it clear that I wouldn't win, even if my name was drawn, without my entry being filled out completely (i.e. with the names of my friends they could sent their mail to).

The stewardess came around to pick up all our entries to put in the raffle draw. I left mine blank. She asked me why I hadn;t filled out my raffle entry. I told her I wasn't interested in their junk mail, even with the possibility of two free tickets as a bribe.

She told me that if my entry was chosen, I woulld get the 2 free tickets even if I didn't fillout the names of 3 friends for them to send their junk mail too. However it clearly said on the back of the entry form, that unless the form was filled out completely with the names and adresses of 3 friends they could contact to recieve promotional mail, I was not eligable for the two free tickets.

I don't like other people making me reveal my personal information.

Sometimes "free" things cost too much, if they invade your privacy.

much of these info is already gathered and used by the secret service. The article is overtly criticising this scheme and is politically motivated.

as to winning free tickets on thai air done on the airplane - they present the voucher to the winner straith after drowing it from the box. No need to fill up friends names.

If the drowing is done on the ground, from the boxes at airline offices, all the data is first checked, and if the form is not filled properly, not included in a drow.
