I've just returned from a trip to Penang to obtain a non-immigrant B visa. If anybody needs to go in the near future the following may be useful.

1. I flew out on Wednesday evening and back on Friday evening on Air Asia spending two nights in Penang. Both the outward and return flights were delayed by at least an hour. This didn't affect me but it's something to bear in mind for those taking the early morning flight scheduled to land in Penang at 10:05 who want to make the visa application the same morning.

2. I stayed at The Oriental an adequate clean Hotel 69 MR per night.

3. I obtained my visa through an Agent Ravi Sharma Travel Leith street tel 04 2632145. e-mail [email protected]. Just round the corner from the Oriental. Total cost 220 MR. (200 MR visa fee and 20 MR commission). I handed the visa application to him 9.am Thursday morning and it was returned at 3pm the next day. I asked him if it was possible to obtain the visa the same day for a fee he said it was possible with ????? airline (I forget the name) but not with Air Asia.

4. Taxi fare from the airport to the hotel was a fixed 28 MR. On the way back I flagged a taxi down from the street he refused touse his metre though his price of 25 MR was still cheaper than the fare from the airport to Georgetown.

How many times did you get visa in the past?

Do you have any paper to issue visa?

If easy, I also would like to get non-immigrant visa B.

Why did you use agency? because you thought agency have some connection with counsalate to get visa with easy?

Did you ask the question that why can they make visa inside 1 day, if you have some airticket?

until now , nobody asked but you typed the TEL and EMAIL looks like as if a advertisment why?

except at airport and in internet, where can I buy airasia ticket to abroad in bkk?

I did this trip 4 days ago from Chonburi (Pattaya region) via BKK and an overnight train/bus. There was no problems with transport links because of the tidal wave.

It appeared however that the Penang consolate gave more slack to people applying for visas because of the tsunami. I was talking to a guy who didn't have all his papers together because they were washed away in Phuket and they still issued him a Non Imm B without any hassel...

Well,

I did the trip, staying only one night, arriving in the morning

with AIR ASIA, and returning the next day in the evening.

If the flight is somewhtat late, you need to pay about 2-30

RM extra.

I don't know if it's true or not mate, I'm just explaing what he was saying is all!

Penang IMO was never that hard a place to get single Non-imm Bs from anyway!

Just came from Penang.

First - AirAsia Arrives at 10:00am local tme so it's plenty of time to submit docs.

Continental hotel is on renovation - they could offer room for 69 w/o hot water, better to stay at Oriental. nice staff there too.

Thai consulate refused Non-B with strange reason - I had to submit the slip from Labor Dept, that my company did apply for Non-B visa.

next day at 8pm flight back to bkk, I think fair. but better to buy a trip to Lankawi for one night and come back to bkk day after.

strange things are going at Penang consulate, though
