Ed Visa

Featured Replies

I have read on here that there are two types of Ed visa.

Multi entry - if you have this you must leave the country and return every 90 days.

Single entry - if you leave the country the visa expires.

Question - if you have a single entry and need to leave the country for a short while can you get re-entry permits so that the original visa isn't expired?

A single entry visa is no longer valid as soon as you use it to enter Thailand and receive an Admitted Until date stamp in your passport. A multiple-entry visa allows you to enter Thailand as many times as you wish while the visa remains valid, usually 1 year. A re-entry permit allows you to exit and then re-enter Thailand as long as your Admitted Until date stamp remains valid. Admitted Until (permission to stay) date stamp governs how long you can remain in Thailand at any given time.

OK, thanks.

One step on, if you get a re-entry permit and don't use before the next 90 day extension do you have to get a new one or is it valid until used?

1. You can get a re-entry permit on any kind of visa.

2. The re-entry is only valid until the current entry stamp expires.

So if you are admitted for 90 days the re-entry permit will only be valid for that period.

Aahh,

No. 1 The perfect simple answer, InterestedObserver got that from you too just took a little bit more brain power to work out, which I'm a bit short of these days... :o

No. 2 I'm reading 'current entry' as InterestedObserver's 'Admitted Until' which means the re-entry expires when you run out of permitted days. Bleeding obvious when you think about it.

Thanks people, IMO this is the most helpful Sub-forum on ThaiVisa.
