My steam powered office PC has an intermittent USB problem when trying to print. Is USB on the mother board or is it a seperate board?

I could uninstal the USB device but I am not sure if I have the driver if it askes for one. Running 2000 profesional. :o (told you it was steam powered :D )

If the device is plugged in to the front, it's on the mobo. If it's on the vertical group of connectors the USB is on the mobo. Only if it's on the horizontal connector area is it an add-on card. Good news is that USB cards are really cheap and there's a (small) chance you're only rocking a USB 1.1 so if you do add in a a new USB card, your speed will go up some 40x.

If you're connected to the internet (which I hope you are 'cuz you're posting on it), windows should find and download the drive for ya--if for whatever reason it doesn't keep it when you plug it into your new ports.
