It seems to me that there are a lot of thai guys in this forum that ask about how to get farang women, Or advice on such and such, how to pick up women, what they want.. etc.

Well, I am only 18 and i believe I have a pretty good idea about women, although it could be my young age turning into cockyness and i may be completly wrong, but here we go.

I would assume all women want the same things in life (similar at least). It shouldnt matter what walk of life they are from, western or asian. They want men who will provide for them and there family (even if the woman is working full time and independant). Women want men who will protect them, respect them and treat them well. Women want men who are funny, intelligent (can hold a conversation), and good looking. Women want the same things out of a man as men want out of a women.

Picking up women, easy task, as long as you are a catch, otherwise it is difficult.

Go up to the female, ask to buy her a drink (breaks the ice, and permits you to talk to her). Take a genuine interest in her, ask her about her hometown, her family, her pets, her friends, but dont get to personal and in depth about it, it wil creep her out (most likey). Hmmmm... that seems to be as much as i can rattle off the top of my head right now, but ladies, please tell me if I am correct, close, or WAY OFF, thx.

Oh, by the way, I have been a lurker in the TV forums for a while now.

Eliminate good looking and you are pretty much correct. I don't think looks play into it - great personality will go further than looks any day.

Not all women are the same and want the same things, and not all women who want the same things want them at the same time.

Yes we are all women and have obvious commonalities, but we rank our needs differently, depending on who we are and where we are in our lives.

If you want to believe that all women are the same, go right ahead, but all it signifies to me is that all the women YOU get are all the same.

Kat - she did qualify her opinion that perhaps she doesnt know much, so rest easy darling! However you are quite correct that women vary from minute to minute what they want or need!

I remember reading somewhere (fairly recently) that scientists measured women's arousal states (ahem!) and found they were more aroused by a funny remark than by good looks or something along those lines anyway. Anybody remember how this study went exactly?

Anyway, I think the tip about showing interest in a woman's interest is spot on. Is there anything more boring than listening to some guy natter on about "me me me" all the time? Is there anything worse than a guy who clearly has no interest in you as a person but just stares at your chest all the time?

I am guessing BaSik is having a purple patch with the lasses, otherwise he is forgetting to mention two thousand baht he leaves for the women he picks up oh so easily 555555

Basically you are right . Just like every man basically wants the same things with the women . The different thing is , and that's why we don't have relationships with the same person ( men or women ) , that every person has it's own priorities. Also , every person also has his/her faults and defects which for one person are interesting or attractive and for the other one a big turnoff . Yep , nobody is same , neither men or women but in the very basics we all want the same .

Frankly, I find that a big, genuine, friendly smile does wonders.

Hi, just a small correction.

The word order should be:

Poo ying mai dee.

Thai places quantifiers and description words after the word they describe, whereas English places them before the word they describe.

Structural examples:

English "Bad woman"

Thai "Woman no good" (puu ying mai dee).

English "Red house"

Thai "House colour red" (Baan see daeng)

If you want "a little sugar" in your coffee you should say

"aow nam dtaan nit noy", NOT "aow nit noy nam dtaan".

samran, i did think that line you quoted was corny when i was writing it, but i was trying to make it sound like i wasnt arrogant and thought I could get any woman i wanted (cause i can't/havn't). I am shy and I have a hard time just going up to girls i have never met and talking to them.

A little note to Meadish (totally off-topic, so apologies for that)

And I don't know if anyone else has experience of this, but, with prolonged contact and a strong urge to improve her English, my wife has taken the English grammatical structure and frequently applies it to the Thai language.... so I end up not being 'boy bad' but mai dee poo chai ... it doesn't affect the communication between ourselves, but it can mess me up when I am talking to other Thai people (or attempting to)

I'll do my best to remember that I'm not talking to my wife all the time in future
