Online Hotel Reservation And Extentions/cancellations

Featured Replies

If you have booked for 10 nights and lets say you wish to extend for another few days, can you do so at the same rate you booked online from the hotel? And what if you have booked for 10 nights but you end up staying for 7 nights instead? I am using wotif to make reservations. Thanks.

It really depends on the hotel but many of them have separate booking rates from an online site you may use for a booking. They may tell you to just book again online or charge you their own offline rate.

Yeah, have to check with the hotel when staying longer. Sometimes it's easier to book online. Some hotels are weird about the breakfast buffet being included or not based on how it's booked.

Also, they just might not have rooms available past your end date, or the type of room you're in. One time I was told they couldn't extend in the same type of room. I thought it was a ploy to get me to upgrade but I took the upgrade anyway. The day I changed rooms a huge tour bus showed up so it was legit.

For staying fewer days, check the website you're booking with. If you pay them in advance, they're the ones refunding your money, not the hotel. If you're really not sure you're going to stay on the way in, you could book 2 reservations. Say 7 days and then 3 days. Then cancel the 3 day one in time to get the full refund. Might have to change rooms, but it might be easier getting the full refund than a partial one.
