Hey John,

I used a mobile in a RAM mount and the battery disconnected, due to shocks and vibrations, maybe other mobiles work better I don't know, from my experience they do not work well mounted to a bike.

In a pouch around your neck, so you ride blind and thrust the voice I assume then? I never use voice as it irritates me, and I rely on the screen, you can see upcoming turns for your entire trip, etc etc which I find extremely helpful to be honest. So I don't see the pouch around the neck as a solution I would ever go for, but maybe you like it like that which is kewl.

I disagree with the Nokia maps, had it and I got rid of it because it sucked.

I don't need a camera in my GPS, nor mobile nor mp3 as I like to ride in peace and enjoy the engine sound, the surrounding sounds etc. The cameras on mobiles are no good compared to a real camera, So I carry a pocket camera if I go on a tour and use it to take pictures which is adequate to sell in stock agents which a mobile phone camera is not. I turn off my mobile and have pure peace from that horrid thing when I ride. So for me it's no point in it at all.

But nobody is the same so if it works for you great. I tried it, and I found it to not work for me so I went for a dedicated GPS which fits in my pocket, is waterproof to 1 meter and shockproof. The GPS gives me all I need of it, and I am happy with this solution. For 207 US$ it is not expensive either, how much is a Nokia with GPS?

Dynabob,

Don't know if anyone has cigarette lighter on bikes man... Never seen it, but I installed a power socket on mine, which was just normal 3 prong phono plug, the GPS came with cigarette plug for power in, which is not very cool on a bike, so I cut that off and put a 3 prong there as well. Good stuff plug it in and it locks in place, also made an extension cable with phono to cigarette adapter so I can plug in 12v stuff if I have to... Never done it though... But the cool thing is I can plug in a trickle charger to the plug and it keeps the battery charged all the time without digging down to the battery and put on plugs.

The 3 prong is good because I use one as negative, one is positive from ignition and the last one positive direct to the battery. On the plug you put in you can choose, like the trickle charger uses negative and battery, the GPS is negative and ignition, as I don't need it to run if the bike doesn't.
