March 25, 200917 yr Going in to CM Immigration tomorrow for my 1 yr extension of supporting spouse and recently heard from a friend that if you have the notorised statement of income/pension from the consulate that you DON'T need to copy all your bank info and produce the letter from bank manager. Is that true??

Is that true?? If you are using the income method you should not need a letter from the bank. Immigration may want to see your bank book though. They like to see some movement in and out of the account.

Is that true?? No matter what the extension financial requirements are, you should always be prepared to document your Thai bank balance for immigration. Immigration could ask you to show some money in the bank.

If not asked for, fine, wasted a baht or three, if asked for even if not really necessary per their rules, have it in hand and have saved an hour or more on the highways and byways of metropolitan Bangkok, plus not tearing out what hair I have left after explaining to the fine officer that that last requested document is not really necessary, per their rules. Wow, I repeating myself. More is better, sez I! Mac
March 25, 200917 yr Author I prefer 'lite beer's reply.......but having said that, I have been asked to produce bank statements in the past. Seems, as always there is no consistency and it's the luck of the draw. I'll get into the office as early as possible with the notary only and if they get nasty, then I'll still have time to get my bank to draw up the letter. Will report my results here..... The only thing I want is that 'they' just tell me what to do [in writing] and stick to it and I'll jump thru their hoops with a smile on my face. one request to the mod of this forum would be to list all the requirements for different visas.....Hard task when they are always changing the rules and inconsistency from office to office.

March 25, 200917 yr Author Wow, what a brain full..... Thanks for the link I found that 2.18 refers to in the case of being a family member of a Thai national. I guess that is me.........but it doesn't state the exact requirements of what papers to bring in with your application. UP2THEM!!
March 25, 200917 yr Author ''You want an extension of stay, not a visa. Check out this website: Link '' I stand corrected, but nowhere in both links does it state that 'proof of income can be simply a notorised letter from the consulate'. I'll give it a go anyway....... just trying to save paper and ink
