Importing Laptop From The Us

Featured Replies

Hey everybody,

I wanted to know if anybody could tell me how much the taxes for importing a laptop from the US would be in percent of the items value? I was currently browsing several online shops and found one with exactly the configurationsettings I was searching for, but as you already maybe figured out, the online shop has it's headquarters in the US. It would be really helpful for me to know how much I have to add additionaly to the price (It would be approx at 2k$). Thanks for you help.

The Import Duty is normal 0% but you need to pay the VAT for the product, the transport and the insurance even if you didn't sign for one. In the real, it's depend to reach which custom officer!

On the other hand I wouldn't buy an Laptop in the states for to use in Thailand, except I'm just on holiday in Thailand! One of my friend bought an Toshiba in Germany and as the DVD burner was gone, Toshibe Thailand was offering him a new one for THB 3,200 or to wait 3 month for an replacement plus THB 1,800 for Service and all of that for an 1 year old Laptop with 3 years intl. warranty!

Cheers.

Thanks for the info :o

VAT is 7% right? And what do you mean with "insurance"?

And btw, I checked already everything, concerning warranty with the shop and how much the shipping is. That case is already closed :D

So get to the point. It would be a gambling with the taxes for importing the laptop right?

If your intent on doing this then have a friend carry it in on the plane as personal items,,,,,,no duty, no shipping, no insurance only a dinner and drinks for your friend
