After some information, once the visa is granted what happens next. We are going to the Australian Embassy in Bangkok with her passport next week for the stamp.

1-I was wondering what to expect at this appointment.

2-Are we given/advised what she needs to do next?

3- Or does the info come once she is in Australia.

Or because this is the first stage waiting for two years before any thing major occurs.

I see on the web site she can work and apply for medicare.

Or any directions on where to look for advise.

Cheers

Takes about 15 minutes, hand over the passport, wait, get it back with the visa inside.

no

no

Close to the 2 year mark the next set of papers will go the australian address.

I see on the web site she can work and apply for medicare.

Once in Oz go to medicare and get a medicare card, this will be a temp card issued year by year. Apply for a tax file number with no problem.

Or any directions on where to look for advise.

Yep....wait a few weeks and then she can enrol in the Adult Migrant Education Service.....She gets 500 hours free....can be done full time (1 year) or part time. It takes a few weeks for the immigration details to arrives at AMES. She needs to go for an English assessment first and then they will enrol her according to her ability.

There should be some info such as a website for a newcomer to visit as far as I remembered.

You should continue on keeping the evidence of relationships such as photos etc, pretty much the same stuff you use to get approve for the first time you apply for a spouse visa. You will need to submit these evidence again to proove that your relationship is stillgoing and is genuine.

Try not to live outsides Aus for more than 12 months (exact days are matter). If she does, then she will also need a police declaration from that country as well as from Austrlia.

Besides Eng course, there is an option to study s.th. else as well. A friend of mine took some Eng classes and also took an Emergency Training Course which come with certificate, handy if she want to take a job as caretaker related.

The applicant will receive a document giving full information when the visa label is affixed in her passport.

The 2 year temporary residence period commences fron the date the 309/100 application was received.

The applicant will receive a letter and documentation in about 22 months for the final processing

of the 100 permanent visa.

You must keep DIAC informed of any change in address during this time.

The documentation for the second stage of processing has been simplified, basically 2 pro forma

statutory declarations and a check list cover sheet to be filled in, a formal letter is enclosed with all the information.

Second stage processing is carried out in Canberra, ACT.

Thanks for the advise and tips.

I didnt think about keeping records for the next two years, great to know in advance. Makes sense. May be a diary to jog the memory.

We had no photos of the early days of our meeting and dating. For the application so it took awhile working out our movements with dates and places.

Thank you all very much
