Lexitron has the following entries for the word "เหนียม":

[V] feel shy; be bashful; be embarrassed; be timid Syn.

เหนียม [ADV] shyly; bashfully; timidly; embarrassingly Syn.

One sample sentence is:

My thoughts on translation are: "He is embarrassed to tell you the truth."

A second sample sentence is:

Any thoughts on what a translation of this second sentence would be?

Thanks.

Pick your flavor: "He often smiled bashfully in my direction," or "He often sent a bashful smile my way," or "He often smiled bashfully at me." I think all of those capture the intended meaning.
