My Printer Prints A Test Page

Featured Replies

my printer seems to work ok, ive printed a test page, various excel and office documents but a form i want to print out a pdf file on adobe acrobat pro will not print out, does anyone know why and what i need to do to rectify the problem

I assume you haven't switched the default printer coincidentally in the Adobe Printer setup settings?

Which Acro Version do you use? Does it print with Acro reader?

correction: I assume you haven't switched the default printer by mistake...

There are printer settings within Adobe as well as the Office suite you have already printed from.

When in Adobe look for 'Print Setup' under the 'File' drop-down menu.

Check that you are sending to the correct or default (?) printer and that is installed and available.

Look at stuff like paper size and user feed options - your Adobe might be sending the print job to the spooler (bit of software that takes the print request from the application like Word or Adobe) that then handles the print jobs being passed to the physical printer.

You don't say but I assume that you are using Windows:

Try to print the document from Adobe, maybe a few times - then try to print from Word or Excel.

At this point - if the document from Word/Excel starts to be printed it suggests that the Adobe application has not managed to send the print request to the spooler.

If the Word/Excel document does not appear - this suggests that the print spooler if holding on to the Adobe print job and can not process it for some reason.

Use your mouse, left click 'Start', left click 'Printers And Faxes', this should display a dialogue box with a list of installed printers, double left click to select and open the print queue of your intended printer. If there is listed here the name of the file/document that you are attempting to print - it should also give you the reason why it is waiting; Printer Offline, Waiting For Manual PaperFeed, Out Of Ink etc etc.

I had a problem like this once. I couldn't print any pdf files. I could print docs and images but not any pdf files. I found out that I couldn't print it in PS (postscript) format so I had to install a PCL driver. Now the printer works. I used a lexmark laser printer. I think it was because of my adobe version. I think the new version fixed the problem.

I think the image that webfact kindly tried to post (I only see a image place marker and not http:\\www.thaivisa.com\forum\post-a80050-adobe.jpg ) must be stored in a private area, I'm unable to access it directly. Slashes reversed to aid editting.

Now I've gone through the process with a RL document - what I was thinking about is (Adobe menu, File, Properties - image below.) sorry that the image is a bit rushed - you get the idea.... Page size and permissions to print???
