Has anyone managed to get a more-or-less "works out of the box" experience with a USB TV Tuner available here in Thailand?

I've already spent too much time trying to get my old MSI VoxII working.

Hauppauge are well spoken of but rare as hen's teeth here. Pinnacle looks promising, perhaps the "USB TV for Mac" which is still available at Panthip - any one got this working under Ubuntu?

I only have use for analogue, but a cheap hybrid would do the job.
