Visa On Arrival, And 90 Day Tourist Visa?

Featured Replies

Hi,

So i'm gonna be going to thailand in may, and I was wondering if I could get a 30 day visa on arrival (through the airport I get 30 days right?). Then I'm planning to stay in Bangkok for about 2 weeks then go to Laos for about 2 weeks(then i'm planning to come back to thailand). Can I get a thai 90 day tourist visa from vientanne? or is there a limit or something...???

yeah....

and umm... when i get the visa on arrival at the airport(??) do I have to go somewhere?? or what?

oh yeah and any tips would be really helpful. :o

thanks!

Oh yeah and my flight is arriving in bangkok at about 11pm, is the currency exchange at the airport still open then?

Depending on your nationality, you can get a visa exempt entry of 30 days. This is not the same as a visa on arrival and at the airport you are advised to ignore the visa on arrival signs.

The airline might require you have proof of onward travel within 30 days if you don't have a visa. If you don't have a visa and no proof of onward travel (a ticket out of the country within 30 days) the airline might refuse you boarding.

I advise you to get a tourist visa before you travel, till june 4th the are free.

When you arrive the first time at BKK, you can ask immigration not to use the visa but just give you a visa exampt entrry. In most cases they will comply with your request. Just don't fill in the visa number on your arrival card.

This way you avoid problems with theairlines and already have a visa. Note that you can get as many visas back to back as you want. Note that a tourist visa is 60 days, only after extension of 30 days is it 90 days. An extension cost 1,900 baht.

Oh I'm from the US. so do i get the visa exempt?

I always thought it was the visa on arrival haha

Thanks

Visa exempt. You can not obtain a visa on arrival with a US passport. Visa on arrival is 15 day FYI.
