Taiwanese urged to make love in Thailand

08:09 AEST Sun Apr 5 2009

Thailand is luring lovers with a Made in Thailand (MIT) tourist tag that encourages them to conceive a baby while on holiday.

The Thailand Authority of Tourism (TAT) on Friday launched the MIT project to encourage Taiwan couples to go on sightseeing trips and conceive a baby in Thailand.

Under the programme, from now until October 31, if Taiwan couples visit Thailand and the wife conceives there, they have the chance of winning three free return flight tickets.

The couple must prove to TAT - with hospital papers and travel documents - that the wife became pregnant while the couple were vacationing in Thailand.

TAT's Taipei office will select 50 couples who succeed in conceiving a baby while on vacation in Thailand.

TAT's Taipei office has posted the MIT promotion event on its website, and held a news conference in Kaohsiung, south Taiwan, Friday to encourage Taiwanese to participate in the MIT programme.

And they keep banging on (to coin a phrase) that they don't want Thailand to be known as a sex destination or wish to be known as a destination for sex tourists! :o:D:D

You would have to be a fanang to see a connection between sex tourism and couples shagging together on holiday!

Let's hope that these Taiwanese fertility tourists don't impregnate the wrong women by mistake.

Or the female tourists impregnated by the wrong men... :o

What's a "fanang"?

Is it a sports tourist?

I was chatting with my Singaporean neighbor last night about this and he Googled this in Chinese, he explained that this report above is exaggerating. It is only a small continuation of the Made in Thailand Wedding & Honeymoon project, a promo project which has been going on for quite some time.

Beside that it is complete nonsense, and ignoring the fact that dirty beaches/water is the biggest problem for tourism, it has also something good.

Maybe the idea behind is, that with such nonsense, you come in the news everywhere. A promotion without paying one Satang.

Silly or smart??

Considering the source, i would venture the first option H.
