April 6, 200917 yr I took a look at the travel service on Thai Visa and saw this: USA/CANADA RETURN AIRLINE CITY PRICE FROM NOTES Air Canada Vancouver 34500 Air Canada Montreal/Toronto 52000 China Airlines Los Angeles/San Francisco 38500 China Airlines Seattle 38500 China Airlines New York 42500 Eva Air Los Angeles/San Francisco 29000 Then I went to promotions and saw this: EVA AIR Destination Class Price Book by Departure Period Rules/Notes London Economy 22K 15-Jun 01Mar - 05Apr and 21Apr - 15Jun Refundable with fee / Date change permitted with fee Vienna Economy 22K 15-Jun 01Mar - 05Apr and 21Apr - 15Jun Refundable with fee / Date change permitted with fee Amsterdan Economy 22K 15-Jun 01Mar - 05Apr and 21Apr - 15Jun Refundable with fee / Date change permitted with fee Paris Economy 24K 15-Jun 01Mar - 05Apr and 21Apr - 15Jun Refundable with fee / Date change permitted with fee Los Angeles/San Francisco /Seattle Economy 25K 15-Jun 01Mar - 05Apr and 21Apr - 15Jun Refundable with fee / Date change permitted with fee Newark Economy 35K 15-Jun 01Mar - 05Apr and 21Apr - 15Jun Refundable with fee / Date change permitted with fee Vancouver Economy 32K 15-Jun 01Mar - 05Apr and 21Apr - 15Jun Refundable with fee / Date change permitted with fee And realizing I was headed for San Francisco end of May I requested a quote and received this: Thank you for your email, the airfare from Bangkok to San Francisco via Taipei with Eva Air is THB46,950 including taxes and charge,3 month ticket. The airfare of Cathay Pacific is THB37,690 including taxes and charge and 3 month ticket via Hong Kong. WHATS UP?
April 6, 200917 yr The prices at the top of the first post may simply be lower because they do not include the taxes and surcharges. It is quite common that such prices are listed and quoted.

Blatant false advertising its the tax and surcharges that are not included European Union is working on banning Airlines from advertising without including the tax and surcharges and cite False misleading advertising which is what this is period very annoying for sure
April 6, 200917 yr Author Thanks guys but I don't think tax and surcharges on a 25,000 baht flight would bring it to 46,950! The good news is I got the flight..same airline...same dates...from a reputable travel service for 34,800 taxes and surcharge included.
April 7, 200917 yr I had the same kind of experience but can't quote the figures. The difference between headline and what was attainable was just too great to make me bother to go into it further. All but the most inexperienced travellers know that the extras are seldom in the price and can be significant but it seems to me that they need to look carefully at what is advertised - why build in that level of disappointment at stage one? In the end I got a flight locally at a tiny discount from their quote but they did lose my business.
