francois
re ... following the threat ... An anti-Santy worm seals the vulnerable forums: F-Secure discovered a new computer worm which applies to correct the vulnerable discussion groups in the attacks of the variants of Santy. Mikko Hypponen de F-Secure clarifies however that, contrary to appearances, the anti-Santy worm is not beneficial. Indeed, the worm generates a great deal of useless traffic in its method to find the other vulnerable forums and F-Secure brings reports even in its blog as sites phpBB already corrected are machine-gunned by queries resulting from sites "infected" by the anti-Santy. Having sealed a phpBB vulnerable discussion group, the tiny creature posts(displays) the following message: " viewtopic.php reassured by the anti-Santy worm v4. Your site is a little more reassured but make an update > = 2.0.11". The anti-Santy worm would use then Google to find the other sites which he could correct to prevent the attacks of the variants of Santy. This new worm is not the first one to try to offer a protection against another worm; we shall notably remember Welchia, the computer worm which caused in August, 2003 just as much of damages that Blaster whose remedy it claimed to be.
