Speedboat Sinks During Full Moon Transfers

During last nights Full Moon celebration in Koh Phangan a tragic event happened at approx 5am.

A speedboat got into trouble halfway between Koh Phangan and Koh Samui. The boat was towed to Samui Bang Rak pier where 6 foreign and 2 Thai (young males) bodies where recovered.

Apparently 1 body is still inside the wreck and 10 persons are still missing.

Living on Koh Samui, I hope that this tragic event will start to regulate the Wild West transfers by local speedboat captains, where crew are sometimes as drunk/high as revellers and boats are notoriously overcrowded.
