Hi,

I'm currently 1yr into a 2yr contract but the director of the school where I work has just offered me a new 4yr contract, am I right in thinking that even with a 4yr contract the labour office would still only issue a 2yr WP?

Correct, in your case you would only get a 2 year WP. I believe only in special investment cases is 3 years possible.
