Can anyone tell me please - how do I boil a kettle?

Step 1. Immerse kettle in water

Step 2. Heat water until it reaches boiling point

Step 3. Remove kettle from boiling water (optional)

I prefer mine fried and stuffed with sardines but that's a different...errrmm...

BBC teaches staff how to boil water

The BBC has given its staff a comprehensive guide on how to boil a kettle.

The two-page, seven-section memo was sent out to employees at Radio Sheffield when they received a new kettle for the staff kitchen.

The detailed memo includes separate sections on Filling, Fitting the Lid, Switching On, Boiling and Pouring.

It begins "Remove lid from kettle and fill kettle with water," includes handy advice like "the water level is only correct when the kettle is horizontal" and advises workers to put the lid on before they boil water.

One staff member told The Sun: "Anyone would think they were training us to fly to the moon. You hardly need a science degree to brew a cup of tea."

A BBC spokesman admitted: "The instructions are a bit on the long side but our kitchen at Radio Sheffield is now probably the safest place in the country to make a cuppa."
