Relationships

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I am travelling to Thailand soon to be with my Thai b/f, whom I met on my first visit, and whom I have been back to see since. I am not sure how long I will stay or how the relationship will develop, although he is in his early 30s, speaks good english, not a barman, and I have already met his family, so I feel as if I'm off to a good start. And I like him of course!

What I am interested in hearing about is the experiences of other farang girls in (or who have been in) relationships with Thai men? Also, what you girls do for work/money if you're staying there long term? Especially those of you on islands. Any advice, stories or comments are welcome.

Thai law doesn't recognize de facto relationships so that will mean no longer stay visa. To get a multi entry business visa you'll need a letter from a proposed employer. Can the BF get a letter for you ?

Are you expecting him to be still faithful ? is that what you are asking for ? men are men, and like every men, Thai men will look for other "opportunities" while the girlfriends are not there. Is that wrong ? maybe not if he still wants to continue the relationship with you. Make sure he does not have another "Thai" girlfriend or another "farang" girlfriend while he continues to have the relationship with you when you are there. If he keeps disappearing every 2 or 3 days for some "emergency" business, you can become very suspicious. Maybe not a bad idea to follow him when your suspicions are confirmed.

follow him around for a few days ??????

what sort of start to a relationship is that.

if you are so suspicious of people then you shouldnt be in a relationship anyway.

what would he think if he found out that he was being trailed and spied on whilst out on genuine business.

sometimes you have to think the best of people.

When the relationship is so new and you know the "attitude" of most men ? yeah why not. Unless you are not serious about it.

You and your mates might be like that butterfly. By I most certainly am not..

Sure. you just didn't meet the opportunity yet.

Opportunity knocks all the time. But I think with my big head..

Wait until you'll get older  :o

Or wiser?

If you want to stay a year, go to the Consulate in your state, every state has one except mine, Florida. These people are non paid but have visited Thailand often and can officially give you the VISA you need. That VISA is a non-immagrant VISA, it will cost you $125. It will last one year, but you must make a border run evey three months. That is leave over the border, take a bus, check in next country for 20 minutes and come back, commonly called a 90 day border run. You cannot work with this VISA. Remember Thai men are butterflies by nature, that is they fool around a lot. Having more than one wife is common, so maybe he just has a thing or fantasy about a Western Lady, or maybe he is for real. Thai married to falang is such that a financial guarantee is required or now about 40,000 baht per month or money in the bank to offset the difference if monthly is lower, note this may increase next year in July 2004. It might be easier to bring him home to your country on a 90 day VISA, if he does not work out send him back.

Bud

PS: I am changing the photo on my web site thanks to popular demand .. LOL

Bud, do you ever remove those sunglasses?

Mackerel,

I bet he had plastic surgery on his eyes too :o  not so long ago , and wait for proper healing before removing the sunglasses  .

I have seen many girls in thailand wearing sunglasses all the time, including indoors and in all cases it was because they had eyelid surgery to make their eyes bigger :D .

With Bud's (highly exposed!) past of plastic surgery, I think we don t have to search too far...
