Electric Goes Down All The Time

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My wife's mum and dad live in a small village. Their house is at the end of the village and almost every time we switch on too many air conditioning units at the same time the electricity cuts off.

The electricity board apparently increased the power for the village and we also bought a stronger box inside the house but it still does it... :D

i'm not very knowledgeable on the subject but any thoughts / experience would be welcome.

Thank you in advance for your help.

PS also, does anyone know if solar panels could be the solution and how much they cost? :o

Ok.

Solar electricity won't help, at least not at the price we're likely to want to pay :o

It's fairly obvious the system is being overloaded and it's not actually possible for you to do much about it other than complain to the supply authority (PEA).

What size supply do you have, look on the meter for figures 5/15, 15/45 or 30/100 ?

When it goes off, is it just your house, or the whole village?

What electical devices do you have installed, aircons (how big and how many), water heaters etc.

Depending upon what's available, you may be able to upgrade to a 3-phase supply which would provide about 3 times the power you currently have. It would of course require modifying your current installation to split the load between the 3 phases.
