Upgrade From Windows Xp Direct To Windows 7?

Upgrade from Windows XP direct to Windows 7?

Microsoft is offering the MDT 2010 (Microsoft Deployment Tool 2010) as a free download for those who like top upgrade directly from XP to Win 7.

The MDT 2010 has a build in User State Migration Tool, a solution which is capable to assure that User settings for Applications, Desktop as well as User files and data are tranfered from XP to Win 7.

According to MS the USMT (User State Migration Tool) is working in the same way as a traditional upgrade does.

With USMT 4.0, the latest version, the need to move the files to an location outsite of the Upgrade area is obsolete. The tool is keeping the files in place and will wipe all other sectors forehand without to touch that files.

Microsoft als has the System Center Configuration Manager which would do the process highly flexible but that software isn't free.

Anyway, good news for those who like to upgrade instead of an clean new installation.

Indeed good news but where is the download link or will it be available at a later time?

Just do a search at Microsoft Download!

You maybe need an MS Live ID for to get the download and you also maybe need to signup to the "Solution Accelerator".

Just do the check by your self.

Cheers.
