cat5
Firstly, sorry for the less than interesting post!Anyone know someone willing to teach a numb-nuts the ins and outs of photography? Cheers! I suggest you start with a good book and plenty of experimenting. If you are in Bangkok, try Kinokuniya bookstore. They have an excellent range of books. TCDC Library also has some good books. TEFLMike
Just a suggestion. There are many online books and systems that teach photography. Some with trial periods. The following link is the first one that appeared in my search. No doubt there are many more that may aid you in your quest. http://www.photography.com/articles/techni...elf-help-books/ Enjoy. ballpoint
It's quite easy. Put the side with the little window facing away from you and look at the side with the big window. When you see something you like then push the little button on the top.
glasshock
Thank you...... I shall search further. I also have no end of books and many of the magazines have fantastic articles. Sometimes though it’s good to have an experienced "human" viewing your work and advising accordingly. The internet courses sound good though and yes for sure........ trial and error is the key to noggin retention!

bigphil30uk
Try Stickmans weekly photography item called Focus. It's been running since August last year and is written by a local, ie Bangkok photographer. Sorry links to rival Thailand sites are not permitted. PM the OP if you want the link. desi
I ditto Gavin and Jackie from the Bangkok Photo School: www.bangkokphotoschool.com Btw - they have courses coming up in early June. Foundation in Photography: Part I Foundation in Photography: Part II Experienced Photography Course I bought all sorts of photography books, but it took their ten week course to get me motivated to understand my camera better (books are great to dip into but being able to 'see' what is happening is so much better). bkkjames
The most important thing in photography (like great paitings) is the importance of light : shadows and contrast - textures. While one can acquire the best camera in the world - the more important thing to acquire is a good eye for composition + lighting. Want to create interesting images? - capture the ordinary in such a way that it makes people stop and think. Keep in mind things like : one sun - one shadow, get up or down to your subjects level, avoid taking images between 10 am and 3 pm for best light....and on and on. Take a look at Josef Karsh's portraits and Ansel Adams and Edward Westons landscapes. http://www.infoplease.com/biography/var/yousufkarsh.html
