Router With True Dsl

Featured Replies

I'd like to set up a router with my True DSL. What is involved in this? True seems to have configured their service in such a way that it is not exactly easy to change hardware.

What information (if any) will I need to get from True in order to put my DSL through a router?

Any help, experiences and suggests are appreciated!

You don't need their hardware. I scraped together some of True's ADSL settings a while back. True's DNS has been giving me headaches lately, but there is a list of alternatives DNS in the PDF file linked in this thread.

Most routers are Wizard driven, so it just a matter of putting in a few values and away you go.

Strange about the DNS.

I am having problems with TOT dns today. It does not seem to be responding at all.

So I put in the address for the TRUE DNS server and now all is well.

Remember any DNS server in the area will do!!

TOT dns is

203.121.130.39 and 40

True I have as 202.176.129.1

You ask them for a route DENS number and it has to be configured for their protocol - go here: [urol=http://www.adslthailand.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10025]http://www.adslthailand.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10025[/urol]

And the information on that site is conflicting. The correct setting according to TRUE are here:

I've heard some sh1t in my time, you should not need any DNS addresses what so ever :o

Unless you can remember the ip address for every site that you visit, DNS is an essential part of internet access.

Hands up all those who know the ip address for www.thaivisa.com?

Of course you do not. DNS translates the name to the address for you.

Joey must be assuming that the DNS servers that he uses are reliable and the addresses from his ISP are good.

In some countries that may be true, but it is not so in Thailand, sad to say!!

You would normally use automatic detection but as we TRUE customers have found there DNS servers are often not the best choice for speed so you enter others yourself in that case and have a :D instead of a :D .
