soidog2
This is a simple guide on how to get the government guaranteed cassava price; It generally lasts from Jannuary till the end of April every year . At the “Amphur” ( Office ) where you land is located, send your Thai partner & ask for the “ Kasset “ (Improvised spelling, a Thai speaker will know what that is, basically farmers assistance. ) there you sign-up for the government price. If accepted, they will give some papers and direct you to the mill that has the government contract in that area. ( please note , this year if not already registered, it’s too late ) Next stop is the local branch of BAAC ( agriculture bank). Open an account, you will need it at the mill. http://www.baac.or.th/baac_en/ Now, you should contact the mill and ask if an appointment is needed. If yes, you will get a time period to deliver your crop based on expected tonnage. If not, you just load the crop and send it to the mill. After delivery you get a receipt showing weight & price per kilo or ton or total . The money will be available to the account opened in BAAC after some 30/60 days, these days even longer! Please note, cassava price is always based on starch %, the wetter, the less starch. 30% or more for the top price ! The program is country wide but implemented at local Amphurs with various levels of competence. Your experience may not always be pleasant, especially now with such a big difference between the government price & open market.
