Manufacturer and model number of the box would be handy :o

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Have they left you a piece of paper with a number something like this: 192.168... ?

As said before: Please mention the model/brand

If it's the Zyxel, try blank for username and admin for password. If this doesn't work, try admin for both. I believe the router is on 192.168.1.1

Edit: By blank, I mean don't enter anything.

Find out your default gateway ("route print" at a dos prompt.)

Put that IP in your browser, like http://192.168.1.1

admin/admin at a guess, followed by admin/password or admin/123456

first one worked on my Siemans dsl router.

My Zyxel 660 modem was 'admin/True or true' (I forget). Took me forever to figure that out, haha. The wireless router from True that I just got only has a password, which was 'admin'.
