my thai gf is in some trouble with the cops and i'd like to see if there's anything we can do about it.

Try searching the bangkok forum with keywords like "good lawyer" (tick the "search titles only option").

I think most of the regional fora have existing (sometimes pinned) threads for best of and worst of ... doctors, dentists, etc etc
