Re-entry Permit Advice

Featured Replies

I shortly need to obtain a re-entry permit for an upcoming trip back to UK. I am aware of the new immigration policy that dictates you need to go to the office in / nearest to your registered home province.

My home province is Samut Prakan. However, the address on my driving license is Bangkok (work permit was used when license was applied for so office address is shown). I have never done a 90 day report in all the time I have been here (yes, I know I should). Does anyone know if I will get away with obtaining my re-entry permit in Bangkok based on the address shown on my driving license?

What address did you use on your extension application? That is what they will go by.

I don't understand why you don't want to use the Samut Prakan office. I think you would find it less busy than Bangkok

You might get caught for not making your 90 day reports when you go for your re-entry permit. So be have 2000 baht ready just in case. It might not hurt to have the report filled out also that would save the time it takes to fill it out when they tell you to do it.

I don't remember what address was used for my yearly extension. It's taken care of by my employer.

The Bangkok Immigration Office is more convenient than the Samut Prakan office for me but I guess better to go to Samut Prakan and "get everything on the right track" re the 90 day reporting etc.

I'll take the 2,000 and a completed 90 day report with me when I go to get my re-entry permit.

Thanks for the advice.

I also never before have done a 90 day report (stay since 2007 on non - B extension). At Samutprakarn they don't take it too serious. As I asked them last time the answer was: Just do it from right now! no Fine!

For the reentry permit just fill the form hand it over to the friendly lady at counter 1 and pay the fee. Within 5 minutes you will have your PP back! They will not open your record for that. On my application for extenson I also fill in any time my address in Bangkok but my employer is located at Samutprakarn!

Does your extension of stay stamp say "Bangkok Thailand"? Or something else?

In my PP it says "Samutprakan Immigration Office"!

That is where you should go then.

There does still seem to be some confusion at local level.

Yesterday I went to Samut Prakan to do my 90 day report and obtain a re-entry permit. Samut Prakan weren't interested in processing anything because all of my previous extensions etc were dealt with in Bangkok, so they sent me there. When I arrived at Bangkok they told me that I should go to Samut Prakan...

After I explained I had already been to Samut Prakan and was sent to Bangkok by them, the Bangkok office processed everything with a minimum of fuss. I ended up with a THB 2K fine for not having previously done the 90 day reports and obtained the re-entry permit I needed.

The Bangkok office also wrote a note on my 90 day report that the next one must be done at Samut Prakan, so we'll see what happens next time...

I was planning to go to the Samut Prakan office tomorrow. That's my home province but over the last few years my 90-day reporting has switched between Samut Prakan and the Klong Toey port office, depending on what has been most convenient at the time. Most years my extension of stay has come from the main Bangkok office, but the last one was actually Bangkok Port immigration office. So it sounds like Samut Prakan will most likely send me away then?
