With so much concern being voiced about the importance of personal hygiene in the transmission of the flu virus, let us recall that the Thais have it all "in hand". Person to person contact tends to be minimized by the use of the "ไหว้" in personal greeting and the Thais are generally scrupulous in washing and bathing.

We see more and more restaurants and public places with soap and water near bathroom facilities and more eating places adopting the "อาหารสะอาดรสชาดอร่อย Clean Food - Good Taste" program of the Ministry of Health. Sure, there are old style fixed and mobile Mom and Pop shops which have not adopted these standards, especially in rural areas, but on the whole it seems that Thailand is well-positioned to weather what might become a significant pandemic.

Has anyone seen any preparation for or reaction to the latest outbreak?
