Would appreciate the advice

Truevisions.. AKA UBC..

Or getting into more complex big dish setups multichoice astro and dreamTV depending on location in Thailand.. Also complexities about legally signing up..

Or getting used to downloads and streaming..

Thanks Brian for the PM. I have been doing some research myself. Anyone know anything about VPN's and exactly what that means to watch TV

You can download a lot of UK tv from here www.thebox.bz However, last time I checked there membership was full but may be worth going to the site and having a look.

I have just got back from 14 months in Phuket, I miss the weather already!

Best option for UK TV in Thailand is a VPN run through your computer and hooked up to your tv.

I have both Mac and PC's so had the best of both worlds as far as find a solution and this is what I came up with.

I bought a converter for my Apple Mac (PC Versions are cheaper but not heavily available in Thailand) which plugs into the montior port and allows a standard yellow video cable or S-Video cable to plug in.

I bought a wireless TV sending kit (Got mine for about £40 from Comet in the UK) but True sell one for about 4000Bt. You plub one end of this into your TV and the other into the converter on you mac/PC and hook the sound up from your computers headphones socket.

Now you can view your TV as your monitor or second monitor if you have 2 ports.

If you have a new enough TV and computer you can get a very long HDMI cable that cuts away most of the above.

Now, onto getting the TV from the UK.

I went to Lamnia.co.uk and signed up for one of their VPN accounts. It works like a dailup connection on either mac or PC and is a doddle to setup.

Once running you can view any UK website and appear as if you are in the UK. Obviously you need to try and get a good Thai internet connection. I had 4mb MaxNet from TTnT.

The Lamnia service is about £10 per month which is well worth the money as you also get US and Canadian access. This means that a lot of shows from the states like House, 24, lost heroees etc are avaiable months before Thai UBC will air them and also before they are aired in the UK.

Hope that helps anyone.
