90 Days- Includes Time Spent On A Tourist Visa?

Featured Replies

I spent 60 days in Thailand on a Tourist Visa and 3 days with no visa on my way to Bangkok to fly to India. Now I'm heading back to Thailand with no visa, hoping to apply for a tourist visa in Chiang Mai (as I will be volunteering). Does the 90 days include the time I spent on a visa? I'd like to stay in Thailand for a few more months volunteering and looking for work.

Also, the "three entries" limit. Does that also only include entries without a visa? I would like to go to Angkor and back to Thailand at some point during my stay, but have already entered Thailand twice- my flight in will be my third entry.

Any help is appreciated.

There is no 90 day in a 6 month period anymore, and it didn't apply to people with a visa. (Wasn't 3 entries, but 90 day limit)

For volunteering you need a Work Permit and therefor a non-immigrant visa. many people volunteer without a WP, but it is against the law.

You cannot get a Tourist Visa in Chiang Mai. You have to get one at a Thai Consulate outside Thailand.

Do not know what you mean by 90 days.

There is no 3 entries limit.

If you are talking about Entering without a Visa you will get 30 days at an airport or 15 days at a land border. There are no limits.

If you plan on arriving by air with a one way ticket and no Visa you may not be allowed on the flight.

Doing any kind of work in Thailand requires a Work Permit even if you do not get paid.

1. There is no limit on entry or stay in Thailand. As long as you have valid visa exempt or visa stays you can do them without limit.

2. You can not obtain a visa in Thailand except for special extension of stay reasons. You will not qualify.

3. You can not legally work on a tourist visa. You can not legally work without a work permit. That includes unpaid work.

4. It appears you will not have onward transportation from Thailand within a visa exempt entry 30 days so would suggest you obtain a tourist visa in India for your return trip.

The rule that you are talking about was canceled in November of last year.

Their is no limit on time spent or the number of entries for visa exempt entries.

The new rules also makes entries at land border crossings only good for 15 days.

You cannot apply for any visa in Thailand you have to go a consulate or embassy to get a visa.

You can apply for a change of visa status if you qualify for an extension of stay. But to do that you have to have 21 days remaing on your current permit to stay.
