Visa With A Criminal Record?

Featured Replies

What type of visa can a UK citizen get for Thailand if he has a criminal record? Is there any back ground checks carried out if you get a 30 day visa on entry? Or a 60 day Visa from a consulate in the UK?

What type of Visa can I definitley not obtain if I have a criminal record?

Many Thanks for your replies!!

I am reluctant to answer your question without more information.

Basaicly the answer is no. They do check upon arrival to see if you are on the blacklist here or have any international arrest warrants pending.

See 10 and 11 on this webpage: http://www.mfa.go.th/web/2482.php?id=2487

The Thai government only checks if you are not blacklisted in Thailand itself and is not concerned with a criminal record in your own country, with some exceptions. Suspected terrorist may for instance be denied entry. Also for a O-A visa a criminal check is required and some embassies and consulates want a criminal background check if you apply for a non-B and want to teach in Thailand. Thailand can deny entry if you are deamed a danger to the public safety or the safty of the state.

For the rest there is no background check for a visa application.
