Dear All,

I would love some advice on what I should do in my case as Follows:

I have a 1 yr Non Immigrant Visa "B" issued in Singapore - Extended in Koh Samui

and a 1 yr WP "issued in Koh Samui" with a company I work for in Koh Samui

Thou I am leaving to go back to BKK to be with my Thai Wife who is Working in Banking there.

I do not have another position as yet.

Can I transfer visa to a "Marriage Visa" ?

We qualify for this as I have over the 400,000 Baht in Thai bank for more than 3 months

Or what other option can someone reccommend ?

And do I have to hand in My WP before leaving Koh Samui ?

My Employer has not intenstions to cancel either Visa or WP.

I would appreciate any help offered.

Thankyou Very Much

YOu don't transfer your marriage visa but you change the reason for your extension. Thatr should be no problem as you qualify for an extension based on marriage, provided that you realy live together.

The day your employemnt stop you go to immigration with a letter from the company and cancel your curreent permission to stay. Next you will apply for an extension of stay based on having a Thai wife. You must cancel your current permission to stay on Koh Samui and normaly file for an extension of stay based on marriage in BKK. Not sure how immigration will handle this. Have your wife call with BKK immigraiton and see if you cna cancel and ask for a new permission of stay there all at once.

You don't have to turn in your work permit. That is no longer required.

I think if you have a letter from your company Bangkok immigration will cancel your old extension and give you your new extension at the same time. You will need to show proof of an address in Bangkok or they might send you away.

Yes, make sure your wife's landlord registers you with immigration when you move in with her. It is an oficial requirement and will also help proof that you start living together.

Strictly speaking that would be the case, so contact BKK-immigation first and see if you can do it all there.

No, you have to take the letter to imigration yourself as your permission to stay needs to be cancelled. HR can't do it for you.

Regarding your WP, you don't have to submit it any more. You can tell your HR department to contact the labour office to verify this.

Thankyou :)

Try 1178 or 1111.

Today might not be a good day because it is a goverment holiday. They are open but possibly with minimum staff.

Thanks Joe

Btw.....on page 31 of my WP

Clause 4

In Case where alien resigns from the workwhich is specified in the permit.he shall return the permit to the registrar of the province where the place of work is located within 7 days from the date of his resignation.

any violation thereof shall be liable to a fine not exceeding B1,000

What do you make of that ?

Now i'm confused:(
