May 13, 200917 yr Can one get a work permit based on a 90-day non-o for part-time work if the position your filling is urgently needed to be filled? Thank you.
May 13, 200917 yr A work permit of any kind can be obtained with a non-o. All that is required is that you have non immigrant visa/permit to stay.
May 13, 200917 yr For Part time work not sure about that one. But a WP for full time can be obtained with a Non Imm O, based on Marriage but not for retirement.
May 13, 200917 yr Would someone please explain how a Non-Immigrant "O" visa, not an "O-A", can be based on marriage or retirement or anything else. To my recollection, it's simply an "O" visa with no purpose stated. You may fill out an application with a reason for applying, but that information does not appear on the actual visa.

While that is true, the labour office can ask about it and if they find you are her for retirement refuse you.

There is a work permit catagory for emergency/urgent work, And an extension of stay. A visa does not say what it was based upon just what type it is, You are thinking of extensions of stay which do state what the reason was for giving it.
