American Couple Looking For Jobs

Featured Replies

We're an American couple looking for, you guessed it, kindergarten jobs in Thailand starting in May. We DONT want to be in Bkk, nowhere near, i.e. no Nakhon Pathom, etc. I'm fully qualified (degree+TEFL+exp) while my GF is with degree and has tutoring experience here in the States. We're young (24), good looking (not vain or anything but Thais appreciate looks as we all know), and eager to stay at least a year. But we're honestly having trouble finding good gigs. Sure, opportunities abound in Bkk, but we have not an inkling of desire to stay there. Smaller the better. Afterall, we're not coming for the lights and booze, the all-night parties, but to become part of a different culture, to make a difference, to expand our horizons. Im waxing sentimental...

So...if you know of anything available, please let me know. Basic desires are as follows:

1) decent salary in the range of 30-35K

2) our own class (for at least mornings), i.e. we dont desire to teach hundreds of kids for 1 hr a week

3) help with WP and visas (we're not affluent by any means)

4) guaranteed employment before we arrive (we don't want any interviews upon arrival)

We can provide all the necessary docs: passports, pics, degrees, certificates. Please let me know if anythings out there.

Suggest you check out the Newbies what-to-do thread pinned at the top of this room of the forum, and also read all other threads in this forum.

Your quals are right or even a little high for what you're looking for.

Sorry! But most decent schools will at least ask you for an interview/ demo class. The ones that dont are not really serious about finding good teachers but just getting a farang face in the class. IJWT! Do ya agree?

I'm fairly well versed in Thailand's ESL teaching market since I've taught there for over 1 1/2 years, so I know what to do. Just wondering if anybody had any leads in terms of jobs. Once again, jobs abound in Bkk, but not elsewhere (at least ones at a decent rate -- 30k).
