Sharing Internet Access Between Two Laptops

Featured Replies

I have an Internet connection via Aircard on laptop-1. If I have another laptop-2 nearby with no means of Internet access can I share access with laptop-1 using either the inbuilt laptop Wi-fi or Bluetooth link of some kind? How does one do it with Windows XP or Vista and no cables?

I believe the answer I provided here helped this person so maybe it can be you're solution.

Sharing

Interesting - I didn't know this could be done on Windows - I tried before but under Windows internet sharing, I was only able to share the ethernet or WiFi, not the CAT CDMA connection. I guess your instructions explain how to do it anyway :)

On the Mac you just do it under Preferences->Sharing, share your CDMA over WiFi, then choose create wireless network, a 2 minute job.

This is what I was looking for, thanks so much. Ad hoc networking is what Microsoft calls it. Basically I don't have a wireless router as mentioned as another way and the ad hoc method is what is more appropriate.... basically the boss is coming next week and will have no net access, so I can feed it.
