The oil subsidization fund on Saturday increased the contribution rate to the fund by 40 satang per liter for benzene and gasohol fuels, reducing petrol retailers' margin without affecting retail prices at service stations.

Energy Minister Wannarat Channukul said the move came about because retailers’ margins were at a high level and the increased rate would reduce the fund’s subsidization burden from 5.3 billion baht per month to 5.06 billion baht.

Minister Wannarat said the contribution rate on diesel retail prices were not increased, with the margins being 1.7 baht per liter for B2 diesel and 2.1 baht per liter for B5 diesel oil.
