Registration for internet service operators soon

BANGKOK: -- Internet and computer service operators throughout the country will be required to register themselves with the National Statistical Office (NSO) soon, the Information and Communications Technology Minister, Surapong Suebwonglee, has announced.

Dr. Surapong said today rules for internet service shops and directive measures on an issuance of business licenses would be drafted by his ministry and owners would be invited to register their businesses at the NSO.

The measure is being undertaken in an attempt to solve juvenile problems, as many of them spend most of their times playing games on computers at the shops.

Under the draft regulation, the number of computers installed at each shop must leave enough space, shops must have sufficient ventilation, food and alcoholic drinks are not served, and youths under 18 years old are not allowed to use the service after 10.00 p.m.
