I would like to install Windows 7 on the new ( D ) partition

and as you can see in the photo , none of my partitions are showing ?, ive tried all the options on the box , but no go..

Thanks, Ive just found this link...

SATA Drivers

I can download it, but where to ..?

Another thing which usually solves this problem is going into your bios, and disabling native sata support.

Just search through all the settings and it should be there.

Had to do this recently on a compaq laptop...

Put it on a USB stick then load from there with the windows 7 installer when prompted.

I guess he has to disable the "driver signature enforcement". Then Windows 7 might accept drivers for which they did not get money to give them a signature. I think you can select this when you press F8 during installation. It could be helpful to disable any enhanced Sata features in the Bios before. This all if he cannot find a driver with a signature for Windows 7.

To be honest. If an OS creates such problems during installation already...what might follow :D Is it worth this??? :)

My thoughts exactly , I thought as I am running Windows XP, and ive made a new partition to try out W7 , then is going to be a walk in the park. , but after searching a bit , it seem's I am not alone

Is it really this hard to just '' try out '' W7 :)

Save yourself a lot of headache and just install Win7 in a Virtual PC / machine.
