nam-thip Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Anyone heard of a MITSUTOMO water pump? I have this type of pump supplying water to my 3-bedroomed 2-bathroom single storey bungalow but it's now refusing to work and apart from a useless 4 page instruction manual that tells me little i'm stumped. The local electrician/DIY Thai guy took one look at the pump, shook his head and said 'no understand, never see this brand before' I carried out a search on google and it came up with nothing. I never purchased the pump as it was already there when i moved into the house so i have no knowledge that might help.
Crossy Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Is the pump doing anything (buzzing, getting hot etc.)? If not, have checked the breaker that controls the pump (yes, I know, but you have to ask)? If you are DIY electrically savvy:- Check power is getting to the pump with your meter (cheapies from Tesco will do the job). Try bypassing the pressure switch on the pump (if the pump starts get a new switch). Any pump of any brand will be similar in configuration and operation, you should find another handyman
Rimmer Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Rip it out and put a propriety brand such as a Mitsubishi model WP405 in it's place.
Artisi Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 A bit of an idea of the problem might help- first question, does the pump start and run?
nam-thip Posted May 23, 2009 Author Posted May 23, 2009 A bit of an idea of the problem might help- first question, does the pump start and run? The pump does not start and run. I’ve just plugged the pump in and all I can hear is a continuous buzzing sound and the motor isn’t turning. There's no burning smell. I’ll lift the lid and have a closer inspection first thing in the morning and get back to you. For the moment my water supply is switched to direct flow from the estates well supply. Cheers
Crossy Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Sitting buzzing could be :- Jammed/siezed pump (you'll need to pull the end off the pump housing to check) Fried start capacitor (cylindrical with two wires, maybe melted) Dead start switch (this controls the capacitor) The second two will need the attention of someone with electrical test gear (simple) and an idea what they're looking at. Things that are often hard to find in a village

nam-thip Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 Ok guys, Thank's for advice and input. The pump is now running like new after the misses spoke to some friend whose husband came and did whatever was necessary. I wasn’t here so i don't know what he's done but can't see any new parts. Stay cool
