The Nasty Side Of Thailand?

Featured Replies

I wouldn't say it's fair to call Thailand nasty for this. Thailand is not equipped to allow anyone who wants to live here, live here, it costs money and resources to have illegal aliens. All countries have to secure their borders and control immigration. It's really Laos who is the nasty one for failing to progress and having little civli liberties and opportunities. The Hmong are in a terrible position and I understand their desire to flee but it's not exactly Thailand's responsibility or fault for their plight.

well then thailand can always permit the unhcr to register and process them, supply them with a safe place to stay (refuge), and allow them to resettle in a third country (if they do indeed meet the refugee criteria). no cost to thailand.

this is basically a joke. Thailand could simply turn their head if they wanted to. no harm, no foul. more than likely, it is being handled this way as means to avoid conflict with these countries... like "If you seem those Hmong, smack them in the head for us"... "Ok, OK"..

yep, and it's just one crony dictatorship clique talking to another.

The way the UK has gone, they can send them all over there, free house, free healthcare etc, etc, etc
