Can't Update Avg Or Avira

Featured Replies

Was having problems updating my AVG and posted on this forum. Suggestions or alternatives were Avira...so I downloaded and installed Avira....same same...says my virus database, anti spyware and is outdated and update manager is 'access is forbidden' .

Could I have a virus already that is maybe blocking access?/ or could it be my newly installed latest IE??

I've been unprotected for a few days now and getting nervous......

disable your firewall in windows and on the router try it again then at least u know if its a port problem or not.

Bare backing in thailand is always a dangerous game :) ........... did you uninstall AVG before installing Avira?? There may be a conflict between the 2 programmes if you have not uninstalled AVG

As already mentioned sounds like your firewall is blocking the updater......... turn off and update and remember to turn back on when done

Ok, I disabled my windows firewall and tried...same same, access blocked by 'server', then quickly re enabled it.

Now how do I go about disabling my router's firewall????

presuming it has a web interface go to 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 or the default ip for your router.

Also try using OPENDNS instead of your isp DNS Servers it maybe that.

Failing that buy a MAC :)
