Getting Coins Into Thailand

Featured Replies

I have a coin collection which contains bullion gold and silver coins like pandas, eagles,British sovereigns, etc.

I naturally want to bring them with me when I move to BKK,but saw on the Thai customs website that gold and silver are forbidden to bring into Thailand.

Many bullion coins do have some numismatic values like my British gold sovereigns from the 1940s and various years of bullion coins are more valuable than other years.

Is there a legal way to bring my coins in?If I make coin jewelry like gold Eagles mounted in bezel with necklace, would it get through customs as personal jewelry?

Any suggestions welcome as I love my hobby and don't want to have to sell my hobby away.

I'd just not mention you have them and even if they find them as long as you're not going to do any major trading then I can't see it being a problem.

I agree with above. Thai customs going into Thailand is very lax. Even if they poked into your bag, just say they are souvenirs for your children.
