June 2, 200917 yr Yesterday I heard from an expat that the chances of my Thai girl friend, who is 31, getting any part-or full-time work in Thailand are zero. Is this true, no matter what her facility is with English, PC's, etc.?
June 2, 200917 yr That expat is most likely full of crap mate. What reason did this so enlightened expat give?
June 2, 200917 yr I confirm what Moonraker just said. If she has a Bachelor's degree, it will even be EASY to get some work.

June 2, 200917 yr Agreed - sounds like rubbish to me too. Good jobs are definatly harder to find due to economic situation but there still lots of jobs, just depends on what she is looking for.
June 2, 200917 yr sounds like a lot of bullshit to me ,she would find a job easy , the big question is what will they pay her .
June 2, 200917 yr Just check out the most usual job searching websites.. such as jobsdb.com etc. My graduated friends have gotten jobs in less than 2 weeks.

Is this true, no matter what her facility is with English, PC's, etc.? Where is that expat from? My GF just graduated from a well-reputed university and she is looking for job. She found many jobs with a salary range of 20-25k, that she can get easily. However, its not her aim and she is looking for a better job. Since she does not need money (no, i m not sending any money to her) so she is in no immediate need of the job. BUT, she speaks good english, Thai-Chinese and belongs to a business family. My ex-gf found job immediately after graduating and she is doing a very well paid job. When I was with her, she was earning much more than I was earning. So, the conclusion is that it is very easy for a well-educated (it does not mean high school pass but a real university degree) thai can easily find a job. In current situations it may be a bit difficult but not impossible.
June 2, 200917 yr Why couldn't she? The majority of females in Thailand at that age have jobs. If she can't it's because of something else.

However, there are still some good paying jobs for girls who can speak good English but have no degree... when will she be here..?
June 3, 200917 yr on this subject, how much could my girlfriend get working in bangkok part time in retail or something like that? she just wants some extra money to save up to come back visit me in the UK again , however when she said 50 baht per hour or so for 'normal' jobs it sounded criminal (not saying it is criminal, just she'd have to work at least 500 hours just to get enough money for a plane ticket!). She is at uni so she could only get part time stuff. Could she get any office work or something like that without a bachelors degree? thanks
June 3, 200917 yr 50 baht per hour is normal. If she were working at 7-11 it'd be about 25. Office work isn't highly paid unless it's specialized or you're management, for a normal office drone working full time you'd get maybe 10,000 baht per month. Edited June 3, 200917 yr by DP25
