I just noticed on flightstats that there was only one TG flight from LHR to BKK yesterday. After making a few enquiries I have established that Thai will be cutting the double-daily flights to once a day on certain days (mostly mid-week) for the time being due to poor load factors. I seems unclear how long this will last.

What I find quite poor (even by TG standards) is that this seems to have been introduced without any notice whatsoever. Would be interesting to hear from anyone who was scheduled to take the overnight flight out of Heathrow last night - presumably they are still at LHR awaiting the lunch-time departure today.

So if you are flying TG to the UK soon you'd better check out your flight and see if it's still operating. These changes will be particularly frustrating to those who always choose a night or a day flight for personal preference - you might find that the opposite arrangement to that which you booked now applies to your flight.

Thankfully I'm not flying TG anytime soon. :)

I noticed that China Air have also cut some of there daily Amsterdam-Bangkok flights, passengers are moved to the day before or after

No company will want to fly with half empty planes, a sign of the times.

If they try putting customers with a reservation on flights a day before they also should cover for additional hotel, etc. costs at the destination. In case the passenger is told to fly a day after booked flight the passenger could argue that he / she has an important appointment or onward flight / train.

Worked out a (maximal) 100 Euro refund for expenses ( taxi, hotel, restaurant bills required) in the year 2004 with Austrian Airlines when they got hit with Sars outbrake and cancelation rates of more than 50%.

Although it is not fair to take advantage of bad luck of others, I found it ok, cause they also charged me with rebooking fees of 100 - 12o Euros. So either they give out a coupon for a free rebooking for next time or face a 100 Euro deduction.

I was caught out by these flight cuts. I'm flying out on June 18th and the TG evening flights were cancelled on 17th and 18th.

Luckily I hadn't booked so haven't lost anything. Actually made the booking with Air France and will live with the stop in Paris on the way. Shame really because I fancied a direct flight and was willing to pay for a Business Class ticket one-way.

Odd, I thought June would be a fairly busy time for holiday-makers from the UK

Qatar airways also started combining the flights...sometime going from Lon to Frankfurt to pick up passengers there as they have cut the Frankfurt flight...you could well have a longer wait then in Doha...
