Where Can I Get Stamped In And Out Of Thailand?

What are the names of the locations of the border crossing points where you can get stamped out of Thailand. Or just tell me how many you think there are.

The only visa run I used to do every month (before got my pport screwed up!) was from Bkk to Ranong, very long tedious boring road trip of 10 hours on uncomfy bus to Ranong bus station, short motorcycle ride to immigration office there, get stamped out of Thailand, walk down road to the pier, get on a songtail (small boat) and get stamped in and out of Mianmar imigration office (at the same time, it's actually a floating hut!) for the price of 300 B, get back on boat, go back to immigration office, stamped back in to Tland, go back to bus station 10 hours back too Bkk, all for the bargain price of about 1000 B!!

Phew! Even thinking about that after all this time makes me feel tired!

Thats the only visa run I did, which I assume is why you wanted to know about borders.

They are fifty three immigration points in Thailand.

I have just counted them from the immigration website

Thank you very much for the story. This is exactly the sort of information I think I need: ie times, prices, estimation of comfort level, and it's true stay permit run. Just what I wanted. Now I just want everyone else's stay permit run story. Pleeeeaaaaassssse! ( that's "please" not something rude).

This run sounds awful, if you are in Bangkok. The price is not too bad, but twenty hours on a bus, my God, that's a working week. And that's not including waiting for the bus and the all the other stuff. Are the immigration rules made by Thai cousins of the Marquis de Sade perhaps? Why do we have to go through this? On the other hand, if you are within and hour or two of Ranong it could be quite good.

Those boats with the propellor on the end of piece of scaffolding (correct me if I'm wrong) are rather noisy. Some are noisier than others. It seems they take a car or bus engine or whatever and forget or don't bother to take the silencer with it. The long metal tail is angled down at about 30 degrees which seems inefficient. I guess they are very cheap. I feel a bit sorry for the poor guys that steer them.

By the way, the confusingly similar sounding "song tay oh" which is Thai for "two rows"(?), referring to the seats (?) is a slightly modified pickup truck. A pick up truck bus one might say.

And here they are http://www.imm3.police.go.th/eng/index.html

Yes. Fifty three checkpoints. I also counted them just now. I was suprpised there were so many, until I noticed that many of them were presumably for ships and boats.

Thank you for the link. I only wish the site was more user friendly. I'd like some information about the checkpoints, like what country they lead to, etcetera. If anyone would be so kind as to look at the list and tell which ones could be conveniently used for a cheap stay permit run, I would appreciate that very much.

Where are you located?

I want to be somewhere that is not very hot, in Northern or Northeastern Thailand. Does that answer your question?

What do they think has happened, the old fools,

To make them like this? Do they somehow suppose

It's more grown up when mouth hangs open and drools

And you keep on pissing yourself, and can't remember

Who called this morning? [...]

for the whole thing.
