Just been to a local computer shop for his assistance in setting up to to show downloaded english tv on my t.v. screen.

His 2 options were: install a tv sound card and run a cable to the tv, this we tried but the picture was terrible so a no no, apprently due to the different resolutions between the two.

His other option was too install a converter to do the same thing, this we didn't try.

One of my problems is the distance between the p.c and the tv (9 metres).

Any ideas chaps ?

What sort of TV do you have? What inputs are available (RCA, S-video, VGA, HDMI etc.)?

How about the PC, many have TV out (RCA or S-video) which should work with pretty well any telly.

I tried one of the VGA-RCA converter thingies, yes it worked, but it wasn't really satisfactory.

The problem went away when i bought an LCD TV with HDMI that plugged straight into the PC.

There are also some media streaming options - i use an XBox 360 wirelessly connected to my network and a program called TVersity to stream everything to the telly (via the xbox)... this is not a cheap option (probably about 10-15,000b for all the hardware) - but there are other cheaper but similar options, which i am sure others can suggest.

I've used this media streaming/shareing concept for a few years now, and works very well once its all set up.

Hi there, i got on 3 of my tvs (lcd) pc's connected...the longest connection is about 5 mtrs and without problems-so i think your 9mtrs may be ok as well. I used to have one of those beck projector tv's before and this was connected with s-video - with medium quality, now i have all tv lcd and connect via vga connection...if you have an hdmi on both pc & tv this shall give you the best picture, vga is doing great too...s-video is so so. hope that helps,

I really don't understand the "sound" card as you would normally want video for TV and that would be the video card. Perhaps your computer is not up to the dual display?

A cheap option would be to load your shows onto USB memory stick and use that in a DVD player (you can buy new for less than 1k). People say there are a few dropped frames doing this but for normal TV should be more than satisfactory.
