Can't Connect To Any Https Sites

Featured Replies

This morning I had no problem accessing any secure sites (HTTPS) but a couple hours later I can't get to them using IE7 or Firefox. I've gone online and found an extensive list of things Microsoft suggests and none of them worked for me.

Anyone out there have any suggestions?

First thing that comes to mind is your BIOS and OS date/time could be off.

Do the browsers give you any certificate errors or warnings?

FIREFOX tells me:

Network Timeout

The server at ----------.com is taking too long to respond.

The requested site did not respond to a connection request and the browser has stopped waiting for a reply.

* Could the server be experiencing high demand or a temporary outage? Try again later.

* Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.

* Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.

* Still having trouble? Consult your network administrator or Internet provider for assistance.

IE7 tells me:

  • You are not connected to the Internet.
  • The website is encountering problems.
  • There might be a typing error in the address.

It's an international gateway issue, CAT is showing the same.

I'm in Singapore now. I'm flying to BKK Tues night but hadn't yet booked my room or return flight to Samui - I wanted to wait to make sure all is OK with my visa. So I booked my room from a public computer in the hotel lobby where there were no problems.

I just tried updating my time and twice got the message:

An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with time.windows.com

I wasn't expecting that.

If you're in a hotel, sounds like the hotel is having issues with their proxy or service providers proxy. You should give the lobby a ring and ask to have a tech look into it.
